LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — Adam Morgan had two interceptions to lead a strong defensive effort as Virginia Military Institute held off Presbyterian 17-7 Saturday in their Big South Conference opener.

Morgan had interceptions on the last Presbyterian drive of the first half and the first of the second.

The Keydets (2-3) forced four turnovers, two to snuff out the final Blue Hose drives.

After Presbyterian scored with 7:41 remaining, the Blue Hose had first down at the VMI 33. Shawn Chapman sacked backup quarterback Kaleb Griffin, who fumbled with 2:06 remaining.

On Presbyterian's last drive, Logan Staib intercepted Griffin at the VMI 10.

VMI's Eric Kordenbrock threw for 208 yards and a 29-yard TD to Dexter Bridge, and Jabari Turner had a career-high 71 yards with a 1-yard TD run.
