NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Loyola-New Orleans coach Doug Faust has named Robert "Buddy" Turnage Jr. to his staff as an assistant baseball coach.

Faust, on Friday, said Turnage will serve as the team's pitching coach and assist with other aspects of the program.

Turnage comes to Loyola after a successful high school coaching career in the New Orleans area. He was most recently the head coach at Belle Chasse High School from 2007-09 where he had a 47-29 record. He also served as head coach at Chalmette High School.

This is the second stint for Turnage at Loyola, having served as the pitching coach for the Wolf Pack from 1999-01. The 2000 squad won 35 games — the most in school history.
