Plymouth State to create suicide prevention board

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's Plymouth State University is using a federal grant to boost its suicide prevention efforts.
The grant from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will be used to create a Suicide Prevention Advisory Board. The board will include both campus and community partners, and will focus on educating faculty, staff and students about how to help someone in need of support.

Campus officials say activities also will focus particularly on student groups that have been shown to be at increased risk of suicide, including gay, lesbian, bisexuals, and transgender students; veterans and military members; and students from rural backgrounds.
