Former Hawaii QB Brennan pleads not guilty to DUI

District Court Judge Dean Ochiai in Kaneohe set a trial for Jan. 2 for Brennan. Brennan, who was third in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 2007, did not attend the brief hearing.

Brennan was arrested in Kailua in July. Police said in their report that Brennan had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17 percent. Police said they also found a plastic bag with cocaine residue in the rented car Brennan was driving, but prosecutors decided against drug charges, saying they couldn't fully prove the drugs belonged to Brennan.

Attorney Maria Carmichael entered the plea for Brennan on behalf of his main attorney, Michael Green.

Brennan set 31 NCAA records during his three years at Hawaii. He threw 58 touchdown passes in 2006 and averaged 387.9 yards per game for his career.
