PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — One of the nation's top players has signed a national letter of intent to play for Rutgers' women's basketball team next season.
Scarlet Knights coach C. Vivian Stringer announced Wednesday that Tyler Scaife, the 2012 Gatorade Arkansas girls basketball player of the year, would be joining her program.
A 5-foot-9 guard, Scaife is ranked as the top point guard in the nation and ninth-rated recruit overall by ESPNU HoopGurlz. The Little Rock, Ark. resident averaged 25.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.7 steals in helping Hall High School to a 23-6 record and the Class 7A semifinals as a junior.
Stringer said Scaife is very quick and has an ability to score at will with a solid mid-range game and 3-point shot that can stretch defenses.
