BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Bentonville police say a neighbor of 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman has been charged in her slaying.

Police Chief Jon Simpson announced Monday evening that 28-year-old Zachary Dewayne Holly is charged with capital murder in the girl's Nov. 20 death. Authorities have not said how Jersey was killed.

Simpson would not discuss details of what led police to Holly but said work by the State Crime Laboratory helped speed the arrest.

Holley is to have a court appearance Wednesday, after which a probable cause affidavit will be released. The chief says that document will answer questions about what happened.

Police have said little about the case since Jersey was reported missing shortly before her body was found.
