BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Three Idaho women have recently died from complications of the flu.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare says the women were all over the age of 50. Two lived in southwestern Idaho and one in southeastern Idaho. Theirs are the first flu-related deaths in Idaho this season.
Health officials say the flu season has begun earlier this year than in previous years, making it critical for people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
This year's flu vaccine protects against three different strains of the flu.
