Noble Energy possesses the oil and gas leases for the Tabor Flats area and wants to drill a maximum of 20 exploratory wells on a combination of public and private lands about four miles northwest of Wells.

The BLM is accepting public comment until Jan. 4 to assist in the development of a formal environmental assessment of the project on the federal lands.

The whole area covers more than 60 square miles.

Noble Energy has identified 35 potential sites for well pads and plans to settle on 20 of them to be constructed over a two-year-period or longer.
