Oklahoma football: NCAA nearly suspended Jay Norvell over tweets
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The NCAA has agreed not to suspend Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell for improper tweets to recruits.
Documents released to The Associated Press this week under Oklahoma's Open Records Act include details about tweets Norvell sent earlier this year to potential recruits. The Sooners say Norvell intended the tweets to be direct messages, but mistakenly made them public.

Six tweets contained what OU deemed to be "written offers of financial aid to juniors" before those offers were allowed.
The NCAA recommended a one-game suspension, but the school successfully appealed. The Sooners will play Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl next month.
