NEW YORK (AP) — The dollar was little changed against other major currencies Thursday as traders await developments from budget talks in Washington.

Traders have been worried that lawmakers won't reach a deal in time to avoid a series of steep tax increases and government spending cuts that are set to kick in at the beginning of next year unless the White House and Congress agree on how to reduce the budget deficit.

The euro slipped to $1.3241 late Thursday from $1.3247 late Wednesday.

The British pound rose to $1.6284 from $1.6258.

The dollar fell to 0.9119 Swiss franc from 0.9121 Swiss franc and to 98.74 Canadian cents from 98.75 Canadian cents.

The dollar was flat at 84.42 Japanese yen.
