DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit theater is planning to host an autism-friendly performance of "Sesame Street Live."

The Friday night show at the Fox Theatre will feature accommodations to make the theater experience more enjoyable for children with autism spectrum disorders and other sensory challenges.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of select tickets to the performance will be donated to Autism Speaks.

Representatives from the advocacy group have previewed the production to assure that theatrical elements are appropriate for those living with ASD.

Quiet areas will be set up inside the theater to allow families to take a break for a few minutes, and extra spacing will be incorporated in some seating areas to allow for room to move around.
