Experts point to health care options for Mainers

But experts say they shouldn't panic because there will be options for coverage, and for many, help getting it.

The private research nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that 10 percent of Maine's population is uninsured and will be required to get insurance under what's known as the individual mandate. The federal law provides for two ways of covering those people: through expanded Medicaid coverage or subsidies for private insurance.

Many of those who don't qualify for Medicaid will qualify for the subsidies.
