DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Gov. Terry Branstad is helping out some Iowa students whose White House tour was cancelled due to automatic budget cuts.

Branstad on Thursday announced that students from St. Paul's Lutheran School in Waverly will visit the State Capitol and the governor's mansion Terrace Hill. Branstad will give them the tours of the mansion and his offices on March 28.

The sixth graders' White House visit was cancelled when tours were suspended under across-the-board government spending cuts in a partisan budget battle.

The students posted a video on Facebook asking for the tour to be reinstated. But they could not go on a tour when they were in Washington, DC earlier this month.
