LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — With the Kentucky Derby right around the corner, a new exhibit in Louisville will celebrate a little Kentucky history.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft opens an exhibit next month of ceramic Kentucky bourbon bottles. The bottles were created by more than 100 artists from around the country.

The museum says in a news release that ceramic bourbon decanters were created in the 1950s to help drive sales. The idea was the eye-catching decanters would be suitable for gift-giving. Production ceased in the 1990s.

The exhibit, also sponsored by the Louisville Clay association of ceramic artists, opens April 5 at the museum in downtown Louisville.
