Oklahoma City University’s artist in residence Mike Wimmer is offering an evening life drawing course for the fall semester. The class will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Aug. 20 through Dec. 12.

Wimmer decided to add the evening class to appeal to working adults who would like to brush up on their artistic abilities. It is open to the public on an auditing basis. Those who are interested in applying for the course may contact the OCU Undergraduate Admissions office at (405) 208-5050.

The class will be held in the Norick Art Center on campus and will include instruction on how to draw with live models.

Wimmer, who is also chairman of the OCU Art Department, painted many of the works in the state Capitol Building. He started working on a national scale primarily as a children’s book illustrator. His other projects include creating a more kind and gentle Mr. Clean illustration for the popular cleaning products company, the cover art for Disney’s “Lion King” soundtrack, commemorative can designs for Planters Peanuts and an ornament featuring Will Rogers to hang on the White House Christmas tree as Oklahoma’s representative decoration.
