After the June 2010 flood and seven months in temporary offices, the Arts Council of Oklahoma City has returned to its offices at 400 W California.

The council’s offices, along with the Stage Center building, incurred damages that forced evacuations and spurred remodels.

“The day of the flood was one of the worst days I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been with the Arts Council more than 20 years,” said Peter Dolese, executive director of the council.

“Water was gushing everywhere, ruining walls, furniture, flooring, ceilings and so on. Mike Grady and the YMCA came to our aid, and we couldn’t be more grateful. They were incredibly gracious with their space, and we were able to proceed with business as usual, putting on one of our largest events, Opening Night.”

Furniture, roofing, files, ceiling tiles and some original artworks were damaged in the flood. The Arts Council building damages were estimated around $200,000. For more information, call 270-4848 or go to www.ArtsCouncilOKC.com.
