Lt. Gov. Jari Askins confirms plans to join governor race
Lt. Gov. Jari Askins , midway through her first term, plans to run for governor instead of seeking a second term, she confirmed Sunday.
Askins, a Democrat, sent a letter dated Friday to nearly 2,000 supporters stating she "will soon become” a candidate for governor. Askins told The Oklahoman on Sunday she will make a formal announcement later this month.
