MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An aggravated domestic assault charge against East Tennessee State football signee Shawn Prevo has been dropped.
Prevo, 18, was arrested April 25 after Maryville police said he assaulted his 19-year-old brother. The case was dismissed Thursday.
Craig Garrett, the lawyer representing Prevo, said Prevo's brother had requested the case not be prosecuted.
ETSU athletic department spokesman Michael White said school officials don't plan to comment on the matter. ETSU coach Carl Torbush said in April that "we are waiting on the judicial process to take its course as we further evaluate the situation."
Prevo, a running back from Maryville, signed with ETSU in February as part of its first recruiting class since relaunching a program it had dropped in 2003 for financial reasons. ETSU begins playing again in 2015.
