The assault had not been reported to police, Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Investigators learned the victim, Kerwin McFadden, 39, of Oklahoma City, was assaulted early Sunday in the street in front of his home in the 3300 block of NW 14, Knight said.
McFadden was driven to Deaconess Hospital in a private vehicle and then transferred to Baptist, police said.
