Assistant Keetoowah Chief Charles Locust's services set for Tuesday

TAHLEQUAH —— Services have been set for the late assistant chief of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, who the tribe announced died in Stilwell Saturday morning after a lengthy illness.

Visitation for Charles Locust, 57, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah, with services taking place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cherokee Baptist Association Tabernacle in Briggs.

Locust was elected to office in 2004 and most recently re-elected in 2012. UKB records state he had 20 years' work experience in three tribal governments, serving in multiple administrative and executive positions in each.
