ASU beats Troy 2-1 in soccer, sets victories best

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State's women's soccer team has beaten Troy, 2-1, and has set a program-best for victories in a season.

The Friday win at Troy gave the Red Wolves a 9-5-0 record, topping the program's prior record of eight wins in the 2009 season. ASU is 3-2 in Sun Belt Conference play. Troy falls to 5-8-1, 0-4-0 in league competition.

Freshman Loren Mitchell broke a scoreless tie in the 14th minute when she scored from the left wing. Sophomore Christina Fink added her team leading seventh goal of the season in the 32nd minute on a header off of a free kick on the right side.

ASU plays next on Sunday at South Alabama.
