Budget cuts to state programs

In the past four years, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has cut more than $30 million from its budget. The agency has responded to budget reductions by:

• Cutting department leadership positions and reducing overall central office administration

• Capping Griffin Memorial Hospital census at 120 beds

• Merging Norman Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center with the Children's Recovery Center

• Closing a co-occurring unit at the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health

• Closing an enhanced residential care unit at Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center

• Cutting more than 70 private providers by more than $3.5 million

• Initiating three voluntary buyout programs

• Initiating a voluntary furlough program
