• January 2011: A total of 18 teachers had left Douglass when school resumed for the spring semester. Several teachers tell The Oklahoman that Staples demanded more of them and the result was better teacher performance. A total of 40 of the 55 school teachers would quit or be fired during the 2010-11 school year.

• March 2011: A special-education teacher is fired for not filing federal paperwork.

• October 2011: Paramedics checking on the health of a teacher find methamphetamine in her purse. The teacher later pleads guilty to a felony count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

• December 2011: Elijah Salaam Muhammad is arrested in connection with the March 2010 parking lot attack on Staples. He is awaiting trial.
