The judge who sentenced former Senate leader Mike Morgan has overseen cases at the Oklahoma City federal courthousefor more than 20 years.
U.S. District Judge Robin J. Cauthron was appointed in 1991 by President George H.W. Bush. She had been a federal magistrate judge before that for more than four years.
She taught in a middle school before becoming a lawyer.
“I love Oklahoma. I was born here, raised here, choose to live here. I can't imagine raising a family anywhere else,” she told The Oklahoman in 2000.
She has handled public corruption cases before. In 2003, she sentenced Brent VanMeter, a former deputy commissioner at the Oklahoma Health Department, to two years in federal prison for taking bribes and for other corrupt acts that affected nursing home residents across the state.
