More than 30 wildfires reported in the state
Gusty winds help fuel more than 30 wildfires throughout the state this afternoon.

The National Weather Service was reporting more than 30 wildfires throughout the state by 3:45 p.m. today.

Gusty southwest winds and low humidity are fanning the flames.
Many of the fires were reported in eastern Oklahoma, according to the National Weather Service. Other fires were reported in Stroud, Holdenville and Alva, and Love and Carter counties.
The number of fires was increasing throughout the afternoon.
Duncan Police Sgt. Patrick Norton said about 300 acres burned south of Duncan. No one was injured and no structures were damaged.
Firefighters at 2:45 p.m. thought they had the fire under control and were working on hot spots.
“We did good this time,” Norton said. “It worked out to our advantage.”
Off-duty Duncan firefighters had to be called in to protect the city while on-duty firefighters from Duncan and at least six other departments fought a fire about four miles south of Duncan that broke out about 11:45 a.m.
