Regarding “McClendon's vision has positive impact” (Point of View, March 20): My thanks to Tom Ward for putting into words what I've been thinking, and for sticking up for a friend. I agree that at the very least Aubrey McClendon deserves a thank you. So, Mr. McClendon, thank you very much for all you've done for this city! After living here a lifetime, if someone had said 15 years ago that downtown Oklahoma City, the Chesapeake campus and Classen Curve would look and feel like they do, I would've been skeptical at best.
I make it a point to drive along Classen and Western as often as possible to enjoy the beautiful flowers and the lights at Christmas. It makes my heart happy every time; it never grows old. As for the Thunder, it thrills me every time I go to a game, every time I see our beautiful skyline on television and every time I see so many people walking around downtown, all dressed up in their “Thunder-wear.” Who would have thought that we could walk around at night right along with hundreds of other smiling faces who take great pride in keeping our city safe and beautiful?
Again, my thanks to Aubrey McClendon for his part in this miracle.
