NOBLE — The Pioneer Library System has issued a call to find talented, regional performers who are interested in entertaining and educating audiences in hometown libraries.
Those interested are invited to participate in a Presenters Showcase from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 at the Noble Public Library, 204 N 5th St. Presenters for children's programs will audition Oct. 17. Those interested in entertaining teens or adults will be scheduled for Oct. 18.
If selected to participate, each presenter will have a 15-minute time slot to give an informational performance. The audience will include Pioneer Library System librarians, as well as librarians from other systems, schools and recreation centers.
All applicants are expected to have some previous experience with audiences in schools, libraries or similar venues. Several performers who participated in this year's summer reading program and are scheduled for the 2014 summer reading program were selected based on auditions held last year.
This year's Presenters Showcase is geared toward finding prospective performers for the 2015 and 2016 summer reading program tour for the library system that includes Cleveland, McClain and Pottawatomie counties.
While not required, being able to show how a performance would tie in with an upcoming reading program theme would be helpful, organizers say. Upcoming themes are science in 2014; heroes in 2015; and health/fitness/sports in 2016.
Applications to participate in the Presenters Showcase are due by Sept. 30. For more information, call program coordinator Galyn Hembree at 701-2674 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Information also is available at www.pioneer.lib.ok.us/pls/111-Press/5147-presenters-program-application.
