SYDNEY (AP) — Australia will play Saudi Arabia in a friendly in London next month as part of its preparations for hosting the 2015 Asian Cup.

The Socceroos will open a four-match series of away friendlies against Belgium at Liege on Sept. 4 before playing three Asian Cup qualifiers: Saudi Arabia on Sept. 8; United Arab Emirates on Oct. 10 at Abu Dhabi; and Qatar in Doha on Oct. 14.

Australia was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup in Brazil but produced some credible performances in tight losses to 2010 runner-up Netherlands and Chile.

Coach Ange Postecoglou says: "We made some steps forward in terms of our performances at the 2014 World Cup but our focus is now on converting those performances into positive results."
