NEWKIRK — Authorities have identified the person found dead in an abandoned trailer in Kay County.

A local newspaper reports that authorities identified the victim as 36-year-old Lewis Heath Stanley. An affidavit alleges that Stanley was beaten to death on Aug. 4 and his body was moved afterward to the abandoned trailer near Ponca City.

Authorities discovered Stanley's body Monday.

Prosecutors have charged 32-year-old Jared James Bales with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and battery and unauthorized removal of a dead body. Bales remains jailed on $1 million bond. The court has not yet appointed an attorney for Bales.
