Authorities identify three killed in Oklahoma accidents

Penny Lynn Dawson, 43, of Chouteau, and Darlene Barton McDaniel, 53, of Waukomis, both died in vehicle crashes on state roads, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. Michelle Street, 45, died Wednesday in a southwest Oklahoma City accident, police reported.

Authorities have identified three people who died in Oklahoma traffic accidents Wednesday and Thursday.

Darlene Barton McDaniel, 53, of Waukomis

About 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, McDaniel was driving south on S 30th Street just outside of Enid in Garfield County. She failed to yield to a stop sign while turning west onto E Southgate Road and was struck by a pickup on the driver’s side, the patrol reported.

McDaniel’s vehicle came to rest in a field southwest of the intersection. She was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid and was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup was treated for injuries at the hospital and released, the patrol reported.

McDaniel was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

Michelle Street, 45

Shortly before 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Street was killed in a crash at S Meridian Avenue and Newcastle Road in southwest Oklahoma City, police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

No further details were provided.

Penny Lynn Dawson, 43, of Chouteau

Dawson was walking Thursday about 3:30 a.m., on a county road 4 miles east of Mazie in Mayes County, when she was struck by a northbound vehicle, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The driver left the scene, the patrol reported.

Dawson died at the scene.
