OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Authorities are looking for the owner of nearly 20 illegal slot machines that were seized during a raid on a gaming operation.

Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies and Oklahoma City police officers shut down Bingo City in northwest Oklahoma City Thursday night.

Officials say nearly 50 patrons inside the business were allowed to leave, and about 20 employees were questioned.

Investigators found illegal phone card machines that operated as slot machines. The owner could face a felony complaint of commercial gambling and a misdemeanor possession of a slot machine complaint.

You know what i think this is very stupid what they fail to tell people is that the owners of these machines do pay taxes on them if you look at the machine they all have a tax stamp and we as patrons pay taxes on the money we make so why cant we do what we to with it. Now the state is going to have to pay a lot of people that are without jobs that are now going to have to file for unemployment, foodstamps, and the list goes on. It don't just effect the bingo halls like someone else said its the bars the gas stations and as far as i know bingo halls are all non profit so what is it going to do to the companies that are the sponsors to them. The reason this all happened so fast is because the Indians bought Remington Park and there are more casinos going up everyone that i knew that played a phone card machine still will not go to the casino there are to many people there and they don't like it so would just like to know is it really worth it.

well i sure feel safer now that people are not playing those slot machines that are legal if you are indian or at the right place in town that they are legal. it is so great to have these people protect us from this kind of dangerous crime. i will probaly take all the locks off my doors now, i feel so safe. the sheriff and the police chief must feel so proud their people finally cought some real crooks and made our city so much safer and protected the casinos from losing this big money being spent at this terrible place.

a COMPLETE waste of the resources of our law enforcement personnel. if people want to throw their money in a "phone card" machine and they are above the age of consent, then more power to them, we do not need a nanny state dictating how people can spend and or lose their money as they see fit. our police have MUCH BIGGER things to worry about and if they can afford to go after crap like this then their budgets need to be cut!

Hell, bust all the bingo machines, and send all the sheriff staff out on their random revenue stops. All the while, real crime is taking place. Are cops here to serve and protect, or act as revenue enforcers?

I dont know why they dont just require an expensive tax yearly stamp on these like vending machines and let them be wherever someone can afford to place them. People want to gamble, so lets let em and lets tax em.

Last time I was at Celebration Station they had quarter pusher gambling machines for little kids to play but the used tokens that cost a quarter each and if you won you could trade your tickets in for a worthless piece of junk prize.
I wonder why they aren't illegal.

Doesn't necessarily have to do with hurting for money, any money coming from anything helps. But this is the Indian gaming companies throwing a fit about these "underground" gambling operations. They are putting pressure on the DA's office and law makers to crack down on these machines. But the bad part is, that most people that play these machines in smaller places, aren't going to go play at the big casinos. That's the whole point of going to these places, they won't have to go out to casinos. Plus it's a big source of income for many small bar/club owners, that otherwise wouldn't be in business if it wasn't for a few machines. They want the whole cake and leave no small slices for everyone else.

The state is hurting for money. Hence, the sudden crackdown.

I'm just wondering Oklahoma City's District Attorney's office will be as quick to throw felony charges against McDonalds for their illegal slot machines? Well, time will tell. A good Attorney will get this guy off if that really is the case. (Something about a "double standard", I think.. LOL

I see these kind of illegal slot machines all over Midwest City. The McDonalds at Reno and Midwest has them in it, as well as the convenience store at NE 10th and Sooner.
