Many authors of faith-themed books have messages they hope to share with readers.
For several
Oklahoma authors, those messages are varied, but all focus on spirituality.
R.A. Stokes of Mustang is particularly proud of his second book,
"The Nehemiah Project.” Though the fiction book was released last year, it has gained popularity in some circles due to its focus on prayer and prophecy.
"The Nehemiah Project” centers on a messianic Jew who joins Christian spiritual leaders during a prayer assembly in their city.
"The book is a call to prayer,” Stokes said. "I would hope that it would cause Christians to seek the Lord's face at this particular time in history.”
Meanwhile, longtime prison ministry evangelist
Don Duncan of Yukon has written
"Destination Character: The Process of God's Transforming Grace.” Duncan said the book focuses on the importance of teaching good character.
"It gives people the building blocks of good character,” he said.
Duncan has a related Bible study program he teaches at Oklahoma jail and prison ministries called "Destination Character.”
Edmond resident
Pam Kanaly's recently released book is
"Will the Real Me Please Stand Up.” Kanaly is one of the co-founder's of Arise Ministries, the faith group that coordinates the annual statewide Survive 'n' Thrive Single Mothers Retreat.
She said people often put on masks to hide self-esteem problems that could be solved through God's Word. She said her book tackles this dilemma and encourages readers to see how God values them for who they are.
Bob Short of
Oklahoma City's recently released book
"The Scroll” is a compilation of his prophecies. It includes end-time prophecies addressing what he describes as the "lukewarm church” and instructions for Christians who want to head in the right direction.
