"Baby Book by Emmbook” (Perry Street Productions, $4.99) is an app I wish I’d had when my children were babies. It’s ideal for iPhone because of the camera feature but works with iPod Touch, too.

Your turn
If you have an application you’d like me to try, or wish you had an app for a particular task, please e-mail me at lbrinkman@opubco.com.

For an upcoming column, I’d like to feature apps by Oklahoma institutions. If you have one, let me know, and I’ll try it out.

Of course, handheld computers did not exist back in the technological Dark Ages of 1999, when I had my first child.

With the new "Baby Book by Emmbook,” I would have a more complete record of when my children took their first steps, ate their first solid foods, got their shots, slept, ate and did any number of cute things that parents like to record.

I would have been able to type in the information on the go, customize it and snap a picture for it next to the topic.

The information you usually record in a baby book would have been right there with me anytime: a baby’s firsts, favorites, measurements, important people in their lives and more.

Ultimately, I like to think the information would have made it from the app into a written baby book in the real world for each child.

Hats off to the app’s creators, Perry Street Productions, as well as a nod to developer
