Bail set for Blanchard man charged in the death of his pregnant wife, Jaymie Adams

Oklahoma County Special Judge Fred Doak set bail at $100,000 for Adams, 25, who has been in jail without bail since his arrest in February.

“Bail in a murder case is very rare,” Oklahoma County Public Defender Robert Ravitz said Tuesday. “I can't think of more than 10 cases in the last 30 years.”

Irven Box, the attorney representing Adams, said he has reason to believe law enforcement officials are looking at other persons of interest in the case.

“I believe there's someone else out there that has committed this crime,” Box said.

Box suggested evidence exists that would exonerate Adams except that “a lot of investigative work has not been done.”

“He's been in jail since February and we're no closer to getting this case resolved than we were then,” Box said.

If he posts bail, Adams will have to wear a GPS monitoring device. Box said his client could post bail as soon as Wednesday.

Adams' preliminary hearing on two first-degree murder charges, set for Friday, was rescheduled until Oct. 19. Prosecutors requested the continuance to allow time for further investigation, according to a court document. The second murder charge arises from the death of an unborn child, since his wife was pregnant when she died.
