NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vanderbilt University has extended the contract of women's basketball coach Melanie Balcomb through 2017.

Terms were not announced. Balcomb is 238-94 in 10 seasons with the Commodores, and won at least 20 games each year. All her teams received an NCAA Tournament bid and four advanced to regional NCAA competition. Her teams also won three Southeastern Conference championships.

Vice Chancellor David Williams said Balcomb has made Vanderbilt a perennial leader in women's basketball.

She previously coached at Ashland and Xavier. Her career record is 401-198.

In a statement released Tuesday by the university, Balcomb said Vanderbilt is "an incredible school and special place, has great fan support and attracts world-class student athletes."
