MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Ball State football coach Pete Lembo has added former tight end Aaron Mershman to his coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

Mershman will help with the offense after playing 19 games with the Cardinals, making 18 catches for 153 yards and one touchdown. He redshirted in 2009, then played in 11 games in 2010 and earned a second letter in 2011. But he sustained a career-ending injury before the 2012 season began and spent that year as a student assistant coach.

Mershman competed in football, ice hockey and track during his prep career at Bowling Green High School in Ohio.
