Investigators worked Friday to determine the cause of a fire that gutted a former school building, Fire Chief Eric Harlow said.

The former Banner School, built in 1935, caught fire about 3:50 a.m. Friday at 1124 W Warner, Harlow said.

He said the building is privately owned and had not been used as a school for about 15 years.
