Grand Rapids scored five goals in the second period on its way to a 5-2 American Hockey League win over the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday night at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Barons goaltender Yann Danis stopped 14 of 19 shots in two periods before giving way to backup Olivier Roy. Roy stopped all eight shots he faced.
Riley Sheahan scored a pair of goals for the Griffins. Jeff Hoggan, Nathan Paetsch and Landon Ferraro also scored. Brendan Smith had three assists, and Tomas Tatar added two for Grand Rapids.
The Barons' Anton Lander opened the scoring with a goal at 9:09 of the first period, assisted by Teemu Hartikainen and Magnus Paajarvi. After the Griffins took a 5-1 lead, OKC's Justin Schultz scored at 14:43 of the third period, assisted by Hartikainen and Jordan Eberle.
The Barons' road trip continues Saturday night with a 7 p.m. game at Milwaukee. Oklahoma City swept a two-game home series against the Milwaukee Admirals (15-13-3) in mid-November, winning 2-1 in overtime and 5-2.
