Barons notebook: Oilers sign two more

The Edmonton Oilers continued to build organizational depth Monday, signing a pair of players who are likely to spend time with the Barons.

The Oiler signed goaltender Yann Danis and winger Ryan Keller.

Danis, 30, played for Amur Khabarovsk of the Kontinental Hockey League last season where he was 8-17-3 with a 3.05 goals against average.

He's played 49 games in the NHL with Montreal, the New York Islanders and New Jersey. He played 12 games for the Devils in 2008-09.

With Nikolai Khabibulin and Devan Dubnyk on Edmonton's roster, Danis figures to be with the Barons, barring injury.

Keller addresses some of the scoring the Barons have lost in the last few days as Alexandre Giroux and Colin McDonald have signed elsewhere.

The 27-year-old captained Binghamton to the Calder Cup last year, scoring 51 points (32 goals, 19 assists) in the regular season and adding 25 (10 goals, 15 assists) during the playoffs.

The Barons open their home schedule Oct. 15 at the Cox Center.

The Oilers opened their annual Development Camp on Monday at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Several players who played for the Barons last year at the end of the season, including defenseman Colten Teubert, are participating in the camp, which runs through Saturday.

Barons coach Todd Nelson is also helping with the camp.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the top pick in last month's draft, is also taking part after signing an entry-level contract over the weekend.

Other notable participants are goaltenders Olivier Roy and Tyler Bunz, defensemen Brandon Davidson and Taylor Fedun and forwards Curtis Hamilton, Tanner House, Anton Lander, Cameron Abney and Hunter Tremblay.
