“There was a lack of focus tonight, it was pretty apparent,” Nelson said. “It started this morning and we tried to guard against it but that's what happened.”

The performance, though, didn't rattle the veterans on the team, including goaltender Yann Danis.

“It's the playoffs,” Danis said. “It's not easy to win three or four in a row here. They wanted to win and didn't want their season to end.”

Three stars

1. Mike Brodeur, Houston

After coming on in relief of Matt Hackett in the series' first two games, Brodeur started and turned away all 31 Barons shots.

2. Brett Bulmer, Houston

Bulmer scored the lone goal, beating Danis through the five hole to keep the Aeros' season alive.
