SAN ANTONIO — Philippe Cornet scored a team-best seventh goal of the season Sunday to help the Oklahoma City Barons whip the San Antonio Rampage 4-1 in an American Hockey League game at AT&T Center.
The Barons finished a three-games-in-three-days stretch with a 2-1-0-0 record, only losing a one-goal decision on Friday night to Charlotte at the Cox Center. But the four standings points picked up over the weekend helped Oklahoma City (6-2-0-1) remain near the top of the Western Conference's West Division. The Barons are two standings points behind the Houston Aeros — a team Oklahoma City beat 5-4 in a shoot-out on Saturday night.
Oklahoma City also won Sunday without one of its top defensemen as Alex Plante was called up by the Edmonton Oilers. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder had played in all eight games this season for the Barons. He had one assist and 35 penalty minutes. Plante was scheduled to join the Oilers in time for Sunday night's game against the St. Louis Blues in Edmonton.
