More antlerless days but fewer pheasants?
The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission meets Monday and on the agenda are proposed changes to antlerless deer hunting days in southeast Oklahoma and reducing the bag limit for pheasants.
Commissioners are expected to vote on increasing the number of antlerless days during the 16-day deer gun season in zone 10 from three to eight.
Also on the agenda is a resolution to reduce the daily bag limit for pheasants from three roosters to two.
The pheasant population in northwest Oklahoma has declined in recent years because of the drought, said Alan Peoples, head of the wildlife division for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
“We've had some of the lowest counts we've ever hard,” he said.
