"ONE LIFE TO LIVE": ROSCOE WAS BORN TO PLAY THE BAD GUY
By the time you read this, one of daytime's best actors will be back wrecking the lives of several prominent Llanview citizens. Roscoe Born is reprising the role of Mitch Laurence this month on "One Life to Live," one of the many despicable characters he's played on daytime. You also might remember him as Terrible Tom Fischer on "The Young and the Restless," or the unscrupulous warden on "Passions," or the loathsome Trent Robbins on "Days of Our Lives." Don't hold it against Born though, he's just acting -- very believably, much to the delight of the viewers who love to hate him.
For those of you new to "OLTL," Laurence's crimes date back to 1985, when Born first appeared on the show, and include kidnapping, rape, faking his death and stealing his daughter (Jessica) from her mother (Viki) right after she was born. And this is just a sample. Unless Laurence has turned over a new leaf, expect everyone to be sleeping with one eye open in the coming months.
When Eric Braeden left "YR" for a brief period of time during contract negotiations, reportedly the soap went looking to recast the part. Whether this is true or not, the show did, in fact, hire actor William Russ to play a character that, on paper, appears to be very similar to Victor. Now that Braeden is back, Russ is still on board to play the mysterious Tucker, who happens to be a billionaire and who might not necessarily be a nice guy. Whatever the circumstances surrounding the casting of the character, Tucker sounds intriguing and could be interesting if paired up with businesswoman Jill or gold-digger Gloria.
Steve Burton, who plays brooding mobster Jason Morgan on "General Hospital," apparently is quite the cut-up in real life. He's known for pulling pranks on his co-stars, so it seems appropriate that he'd be making an appearance at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club in San Antonio. Look for him Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m. The venue is located at 618 N.W. Loop 410, Suite 312, San Antonio, TX 78216. For tickets, call 210-229-1420.
For those of you on the East Coast, you can catch some of your favorite "AMC" stars in person before they move to Los Angeles when the show begins taping there next month. Nov. 21, Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake), Vincent Irizarry (David), Michael E. Knight (Tad) and Darnell Williams (Jesse) will be at the "AMC" Farewell Show at The Lane Theater at 1 p.m., with another VIP-only show immediately following. The theater is located at 168 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY 10306. Call 877-862-5384 for tickets, which are $45 for the first show only and $100 total for the regular and VIP shows.
The following day, Nov. 22, Jamie Luner (Liza), J.R. Martinez (Brot) and Chrishell Stause (Amanda) will appear at the Brokerage Comedy Club at 2797 Merrick Rd., Bellmore, NY 11710. Showtime is 1 p.m., and tickets for the show are $67, which includes autographs, photo opportunities and a QA. Call 516-785-8655 for tickets.
