The Carmike 10, 1909 N Perkins Road, Stillwater, is the only
Oklahoma theater that will be carrying the 3-D broadcast, which is going to 80 theaters nationwide. It will be the first major live sporting event available to the public in 3-D.
Suzanne Moore, a spokesman for
Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., said the Carmike 10 was the most prominent Oklahoma theater with the technology needed for the broadcast. Moore said requirements included having 2-D digital cinema with 3-D capability and a link to the satellite network.
Ticket prices will range from $18 to $22, Moore said.
The 3-D broadcast, which will use a separate announcing team, is being produced through a partnership involving Cinedigm Digital, 3ality Digital, Fox,
Sony and RealD.
3ality Digital recently used a
San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders game as a test-run for the technology. The showing at select theaters in
New York City,
Boston and
Los Angeles earned rave reviews.
"It was fantastic,”
NFL spokesman
Brian McCarthy told the
Palm Beach Post. "You could see the passion of the players. There were a number of instances where the ball literally was coming right at you and you want to put up your hands to make a catch.”
Cinedigm also is carrying a 3-D broadcast of NBA All-Star Saturday Night in 80 theaters, including the Carmike 10 in Stillwater.
At least one
Oklahoma City area theater, the Warren Theater in Moore, is offering a high definition broadcast of the BCS championship for $12.

Gators kick OU in 3-D. It's going to be bad enough in Black&White.
rude comments about Stillwater. It isn't the Carmike's fault you people don't have modern technology in Normal or Moore. I believe the sooner fans are all caught up in the fact that a lot of their players will be entering the draft and not on the squad next year. Sure hope so!!!!!! So you can either pay or stay home. GO TEBOW AND GATORS!!!!!
