Become a contributor on NewsOK

We have a lot of articles on NewsOK about a lot of topics. Hundreds cycle through our home page every day.

They come from our writers and editors. They come from AP and other services. They come from blogs and around the web.

But not enough of them come from you.

Until now.

If you have something to contribute — something you are passionate about or have expertise in — I encourage you to sign up to be a contributor for at

The process to sign up is pretty self-explanatory and simple. But it does take an investment in time and energy. If you signed up for Twitter, you know the idea — but we’re not going to give you a default egg for your profile photo.

We require a real photo, a real name and a legitimate bio. The bio has to have some meat to it, too. I used my traditional professional bio when I signed up, but our field for the author’s bio required another couple of sentences. The bare minimum wasn’t enough.

Why all the steps? Well, social media anonymity is for the comments at the end of stories. For our articles, we at least require that you are who you say you are. Plus, it’s the same requirement we have of the authors on our staff. Your stories will be alongside our stories, so a real person has to be the author.

Once you are confirmed as a contributor, you’re in. All you have to do is pitch an idea and write a story. We’re not putting a narrow scope on the topics we’re looking for. We’re looking for you to lead us in that direction. We’d love to see where the community takes us.

As we say on the page …

We seek your best work on topics where you bring unique perspective, expertise or experience — providing our readers with consistent stories across the news and information spectrum.

If you have something to contribute, there’s no place better for that contribution than the largest news and information website in the state.

This is your site, too. Help us move into yet another era of site growth and community engagement.

Be a NewsOK contributor.
