TULSA — Jason Hursh struck out nine in a complete-game pitching effort and Gage Green drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, leading Oklahoma State to a 4-3 win Friday night in the Bedlam opener.
The Cowboys improved to 35-12 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12. OU dropped to 34-15 and 11-8.
After playing before an overflow crowd of 9,194 at ONEOK Field in the opener, the teams shift to Oklahoma City for Game 2 of the series at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The Sooners will try to get even behind ace Jonathan Gray (8-1), who was pushed back a day. Tyler Nurdin (2-2) starts for the Cowboys.
OSU scored first Friday night, getting a third-inning run on a run-scoring single from Saulyer Saxon.
The Sooners went ahead 3-1 in the fourth, when Hector Lorenzana drilled a three-run, opposite-field home run out to right field.
But that was the only big mistake Hursh would make, as he faced the minimum in six innings, with the help of three inning-ending double plays.
The Cowboys tied it in the fifth when Tanner Krietemeier singled in two runs with two outs. And Green delivered the game-winner in the eighth — again with two out — driving in Robbie Rea, who had singled and moved to second on Rick Stover's sacrifice bunt.
