UP: Blake Barnes, RHP, Cowboys
Barnes isn't a starting pitcher for OSU, but he's a great finisher. In 10 conference games out of the bullpen, Barnes has thrown 25 innings, posting a 3-1 record with two saves and 20 strikeouts. Barnes has become Frank Anderson's top choice to close out wins. His 1.08 earned run average in league games leads the Big 12.
DOWN: Jarrett Higgins, CF, Cowboys
OSU's leadoff man and top threat on the bases is doubtful for the Bedlam series after jamming his ankle running the bases last weekend at Kansas State. Higgins, 17 of 22 on stolen base attempts, is also an outstanding defensive center fielder. He'll be replaced by Saulyer Saxon or Gage Green.
UP: Max White, 3B, Sooners
OU's top hitter, White has been on fire of late, earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors and driving in five runs in a two-game, weather-shortened sweep at Kansas last weekend. White has been a team player, too, moving around the field to help the Sooners find the right mix, taking turns at left field, first base and now third.
DOWN: Sooner closers
If OU ends the year with regrets, one will certainly be late-game pitching. The Sooners have let several games slip away after solid outings by their starters. For the season, OU has but nine saves, and four of those belong to Friday night starter Jordan John. Damien Magnifico and Steven Okert each have two saves.
