Since World War II, only twice has OU been reduced to spoiler status entering a season-ending Bedlam football game.

The Cowboys are well-tuned to the spoiler role, having 14 times been placed in position to ruin OU bids of a conference title, a major bowl or national championship contention.


OU AS SPOILER: 1-1

2009: OSU was in position for a Fiesta Bowl berth with a victory, but OU won 27-0.

1945: The Cowboys entered with an unbeaten record and won 47-0.

OSU AS SPOILER: 1-13

2008: OU needed to win to forge a three-way tie for the Big 12 South title and hope to win a BCS tiebreaker. OU won 61-41.

2006: OU needed a win for the Big 12 South title. OU won 27-21.

2001: OU was in position to secure a berth in the national championship Rose Bowl, but OSU won 16-13.

2000: Top-ranked OU was en route to the national championship Orange Bowl. OU won 12-7.

1985: OU was in position to contend for the national title. OU won 13-0.

1974: OU was in national title contention. OU won 44-13

1973: OU was in national title contention. OU won 45-18.

1972: OU needed a win for the Big Eight title and to remain in national title contention. OU won 38-15.

1967: OU needed a win for the Big Eight title. OU won 38-14.

1956: OU needed a win to remain unbeaten and No. 1 in the nation. OU won 53-0.

1955: OU needed a win to remain unbeaten and No. 1 in the nation. OU won 53-0.

1954: OU needed a win to remain unbeaten. OU won 14-0.

1950: OU needed a win to remain unbeaten and No. 1 in the nation. OU won 41-14.

1949: OU needed a win to remain unbeaten. OU won 41-0.
