Bedlam Series notebook: Matt Oberste introduces himself to Bedlam

Oklahoma's Matt Oberste was in the lineup on opening day, but he has been in and out of the lineup due to a forearm injury that hampered his impact.

For the Bedlam series, Oberste is back.

And the Sooner designated hitter was big Saturday night, collecting a career-high four hits in OU's 8-4 win that evened the series at 1-1.

After a hitless Friday night, Oberste said he made some adjustments at the plate.

“Yesterday, I wasn't seeing the ball real well,” he said. “Today, I spread my legs out a little bit, tried to see the ball in the zone. And it worked out.”

Oberste's signature moment was a long home run to lead off the second inning. The ball cleared everything, literally leaving Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Even Oberste said he lost track of it.

“I saw it over the sign,” he said sheepishly, “but I didn't see it land.”

The final game of the series is set for 4:07 p.m. Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The pitching matchup: OSU's Vince Wheeland (2-1, 3.60 ERA) vs. OU's Dillon Overton (5-2, 3.47 ERA).
