The new Bedre plant is nearly twice the size of the closed Pauls Valley facility.

— The Bedre Fine Chocolate manufacturing facility in Pauls Valley has closed as the Chickasaw Nation-owned business gets ready to relocate to Davis.

The chocolatier will reopen this spring in a new 34,600-square-foot building at exit 55 on Interstate 35, adjacent to the new Chickasaw Nation Welcome Center and Bedre retail shop, which both opened in December.

The manufacturing facility will give visitors an up-close chocolate experience and provide an event space for groups. It is nearly double the size of the Pauls Valley plant.

“As our sales have increased, we have outgrown our current facility,” said Nic Carlsson, general manager of Bedre Fine Chocolate. He added that the relocation will take about 12 weeks and is being conducted by employees and specialized technicians from the Chickasaw Nation and outside vendors.

The Chickasaw Nation purchased Bedre Fine Chocolate in 2000. The company produces chocolates, candy bars and covered chip crisps that are sold nationwide through retailers such as Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's.
